Japanese spacecraft to deploy asteroid rovers next month
The Hayabusa-2 spacecraft is scheduled to deploy its first robots, Rover 1A and Rover 1B, to the asteroid 162173 Ryugu on Sept. 21 and will send the Mascot lander down Oct. 3, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. The rovers and lander will take pictures and collect samples, the latter of which will be brought back to Earth in 2020.
