Researchers create clothes made from wood, other recyclables
Researchers at Aalto and Helsinki universities in Finland have developed a way to turn birch wood, recycled newspapers and cardboard into clothing material, calling the sustainable tech Ioncell. Jenni Haukio, the first lady of Finland, recently wore a dress made by an Aalto student from birch wood to support the process, and clothing and accessories made using Ioncell could arrive in the marketplace in 2025.
