Gripping robot utilizes origami design

Researchers were inspired by origami when they created a gripping robot that can carry both heavy and fragile objects, according to findings set to be presented at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation in May. The gripper is made of latex over a silicone rubber skeleton shaped like a bell, enabling it to pick up a variety of objects.
