Longer sun exposure tied to reduced pediatric IBD risk
An Australian study in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition linked every 10-minute increase in sun exposure during the previous summer or winter to a 6% lower likelihood of inflammatory bowel disease among youths younger than 18. The results were similar among those with the most recent IBD diagnoses, whites, those with IBD symptom onset during the year before the study, and after adjusting for physical activity or age.
