Study: Meteorite’s stardust formed up to 7B years ago
Stardust in a meteorite that was recovered in Australia in 1969 is up to 7 billion years old — the oldest material ever found on Earth, a study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows. The presolar grains, which offer clues about how stars developed, are helping researchers understand when star formation in the galaxy may have reached peak levels.
