Scientists spent two weeks on a remote slope of the Mauna Loa volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island to conduct research in a simulated lunar environment. The Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation, part of the EuroMoonMars mission, included the testing of robots and rovers, study of lava tubes and research related to drilling operations, mapping techniques and geology, among other activities.
