Sea turtles may mistake ocean-soaked plastic with food

Bits of plastic in the ocean seem to smell the same as food to loggerhead
turtles
, a study in Current Biology suggests. The turtles exhibited foraging behavior in the both the presence of actual food, such as shrimp, and plastic that had been soaked in ocean water for a long period, which could explain why sea turtles often fall victim to plastics.
