A lack of carbon dioxide can cause seizures in naked mole rats, which rely on the gas to mitigate the effects of a genetic mutation that causes seizures, according to a study published in Current Biology. Study co-author Dan McCloskey thinks the finding could lead to therapies for epilepsy and febrile seizures.
