The leaves of Australia’s gympie-gympie trees can sting people and other mammals through a toxin that causes severe pain, according to findings published in Science Advances. Two things about the trees’ stings — how they inject their toxins and how the neurotoxins are composed — may help researchers develop better pain management protocols.
