Research published in JAMA Network Open found that current and past users of e-cigarettes are at greater risk than nonusers of developing asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The study of nearly 22,000 US adults found that the risk for these chronic diseases among current e-cigarette users was 31% higher compared to nonusers, while former e-cigarette users had a 28% higher risk, according to United Press International.
