There were very few periods of warm weather on ancient Mars, a study in Nature Geoscience suggests. The climate model created by researchers led by Robin Wordsworth of Harvard University took into account volcanic activity and atmospheric hydrogen loss, concluding the brief warm periods “allowed water to flow across the surface, forming rivers and lakes and the rocks and minerals we associate with water on Mars.”
