The National Science Foundation has awarded the University at Buffalo a $2 million grant to develop a robotic sorting system to separate plastics for recycling and discover new eco-friendly solvents to break down the plastics for reuse. Researchers aim to have a prototype ready by later this year, according to project leader Paschalis Alexandridis.
