Fruit flies and mosquitoes have about 200,000 neurons that work together to help them navigate, find food and conduct complex behaviors simultaneously, according to findings reported in PLOS ONE. “Even though these brains are simple (in contrast to mammalian brains), they can do a lot of processing, even more than a supercomputer,” said study author Christopher Potter.
