A colorful and detailed simulation described in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society shows a churning cloud of gas that serves as the birthplace of stars. The model is called Star Formation in Gaseous Environments, or STARFORGE, and it offers scientists the opportunity to better understand the process of star creation.
