Researchers calculate different cats' life expectancies

Kittens in the UK have an average life expectancy of 11.7 years, but Burmese or Birman kittens have a life expectancy of around 14 years, while a Bengal cat can expect to live only 8.5 years and a Sphinx kitten’s life expectancy is only 6.7 years, according to a study in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery. Researchers also calculated life expectancy for older cats, mixed and pure breeds, and males and females, and they say their findings could help inform adoption and veterinary care choices.
