Fossil helps identify unknown horned dinosaur species

More than 20 horns adorn the skull of a previously unknown dinosaur species dubbed Lokiceratops rangiformis, a 5,000-kilogram cousin of triceratops identified from fossils in northern Montana, researchers write in PeerJ. The 7-meter-long creature would have been the largest herbivore in its ecosystem 78 million years ago, with a spike between two large, asymmetrical horns jutting out from the back of its frill and smaller horns along the frill.
