Hibernating squirrels do without water for 8 months
The 13-lined ground squirrel goes for months without needing to drink water, according to findings published in Current Biology. Researchers tested the squirrels and found that they regulate the concentration of their blood, moving certain chemicals to other parts of the body until their hibernation ends.
