Meteorites found to contain essential sugars
Two meteorites have been found to contain sugars such as ribose, arabinose and xylose, all key to the building blocks of life, according to findings published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. “The extraterrestrial sugar might have contributed to the formation of RNA on the prebiotic Earth which possibly led to the origin of life,” says study author Yoshihiro Furukawa.
