The angle an asteroid hit the ground 66 million years ago resulted in the maximum amount of damage to wipe out dinosaurs, according to simulations based on Chicxulub crater geological data and described in Nature Communications. “This was a very bad day for the dinosaurs, and the more special the circumstances that had to come together to cause this event, the less likely that it’ll happen again,” said researcher Gareth Collins.
