Scientists have calculated the necessary balance of sleep and activity to optimize children’s bone health, according to findings published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research. Called “The Goldilocks Day,” the right formula is 10.9 hours of sleep, 8.2 hours spent in sedentary activities like reading or class time, 3.4 hours of light activity such as walking or cleaning and 1.5 hours of higher-level activity like sports or running.
