NASA’s Perseverance rover deployed its SuperCam instrument, measuring rocks on Mars with its high-intensity laser for the first time, and its on-board microphone picked up the laser sounds, as well as general Martian ambiance and wind noise. Researchers say the laser sounds can help measure the hardness of targeted objects.
