Fossil footprints in China indicate a previously unidentified raptor species, Fujianipus yingliangi, that was 5 meters long with 1.8-meter legs and that challenges concepts of raptors’ size and territories in the late Jurassic or early Cretaceous periods, according to a study in iScience. Anthony Romilio, a researcher on the study, said the findings “show the incredible size range among raptor dinosaurs, highlighting their adaptability and ecological diversity.”
